Osho Stories ~ Trust

"A man just got married and was returning home with his wife. They were crossing a lake in a boat when suddenly a great storm arose. The man was a warrior, but the woman became very much afraid because it seemed almost hopeless -- THE BOAT WAS SMALL AND THE STORM WAS REALLY HUGE, AND ANY MOMENT THEY WERE GOING TO BE DROWNED. But the man sat silently, calm and quiet, as if nothing was happening.

The woman was trembling and she said, "Are you not afraid? This may be our last moment of life! IT DOESN'T SEEM THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO REACH THE OTHER SHORE. Only some miracle can save us, otherwise death is certain. Are you not afraid? Are you mad or something? Are you a stone or something?"

THE MAN LAUGHED AND TOOK THE SWORD OUT OF ITS SHEATH. The woman was even more puzzled -- what he is doing? Then he brought the naked sword close to the woman's neck -- so close that just a small gap was there, it was almost touching her neck.

He said, "ARE YOU AFRAID?"

She started to giggle and laugh and said, "WHY SHOULD I BE AFRAID? If the sword is in your hands, why should I be afraid? I know you love me."

He put the sword back and said, "This is my answer. I know God loves me, and the sword is in His hands, and the storm is in His hands -- so WHATSOEVER IS GOING TO HAPPEN IS GOING TO BE GOOD. If we survive, good; if we don't survive, good -- because EVERYTHING IS IN HIS HANDS, AND HE CANNOT DO ANYTHING WRONG."

This is the trust one needs to imbibe. SUCH TREMENDOUS TRUST IS CAPABLE OF TRANSFORMING YOUR WHOLE LIFE! And ONLY such tremendous trust is capable of transforming your life -- less than that won't do."

What if the same story is re-told from a perspective of a woman. Say she was alone and felt that she would be raped by a gang of hooligans...Now she remembers her husband's advice and said, I am in hands of God...whatever goes on will be for the better...And unfortunately (which is not impossible in the times of today) she gets brutally raped and sodomized. Now what? Should she forgive the culprits as she was in God's hands? And multitudes of questions can be asked

Hi, you are right, multitudes of questions can be raised, but the IMP thing is are those your questions? Are they coming out of you??
Your women perspective is quite a test, but then it depends on that women whether she is angry with those hooligan rapists or has she forgiven them. In the story the men n wife could have been killed by the storm and they could have cursed the ocean. What matters is trust.

I feel trust is the hardest thing to have.. People follow all sorts of gods but they don't have trust in them. Just apply some logical thinking and you wud understand that if you trust your god whole heatedly then you would be like that men in the story and need not worry about hooligans raping you.

If the woman really has 100% trust, she wont get raped. Trust does miracles..! If she has questions on whether trust really works, then her trust is not true, then she might get raped! Trust cannot be proved logically. It can only be tried and realised.. It is not that easy to have such trust..

TRUST !
All trusts are based on mistrust.... If someone trust someone or god or something they wont say that... Coz we dont say I trust that sun is there... Do we have to say what we trust in?
We need others to accept our trusts then only we ll be happy .... I am also the same kinda person thats y I am commenting here... I want others to see my version of thoughts and agree them... Its really funny to realise it and still I cant stop comenting ... : )
